These investigations may take many forms and the government may involve the client in differing roles. If a client is a target or potential target of a criminal investigation, the Dillon Law Group will assemble an investigative team to quickly assess the potential exposure and gather the evidence relevant to mount an effective defense. In many white collar cases the key evidence is contained in electronic format – in cell phones, computers and emails. Our forensic computer team is quick and effective at gathering the relevant data and sifting through it to find the documents that are relevant to the defense. Once we have gathered and identified the relevant evidence, we review that information with our clients and develop a defense strategy to accomplish our goals. Sometimes a client is only called as a witness in an investigation. If a client is a mere witness in a white collar matter, we prepare them for testimony so that they can be assured they will remain a witness and not inadvertently become a target, either through self-incrimination or inadvertently committing obstruction of justice or perjury. Truthful cooperation is the hallmark of protecting witnesses called to testify in the grand jury or at trial. We will work with witnesses to assure that their interests are protected.
